For years, modern and flexible office spaces were the stomping grounds of small, boutique startups and the self-employed creative types. And, while those groups still play a large role in the market, larger and more traditional companies are now beginning to see the benefits of flexible office spaces.

A real estate economist and futurist thinks the way companies go about choosing relocation and expansion sites will forever be altered by how Amazon.com is conducting the search for a city to host its coveted second headquarters. And that bodes well for Columbus.

Development in Central Ohio has been accelerating and experts say the activity likely will continue through 2018.

The Urban Land Institute's (ULI's) most recent Real Estate Economic Forecast indicates that the U.S. commercial real estate market is in for steady growth through 2019.     

This year's Inc. 5000 list of the nation's fastest-growing privately held companies includes 51 area businesses, including one that made it into the Top 10 nationwide.

Commercial real estate is competitively priced in the Columbus Region compared to other top metropolitan areas.

Columbus again is one of the best cities in the country for new college graduates, but there's another city in Ohio that is better. Finance site SmartAsset.com has published its third annual rankings that factor in jobs, affordability and entertainment and dining options for those leaving their college days behind them. Columbus is No. 2 on the list, right behind Cincinnati.

Columbus' population has grown to 860,090, making it the 14th largest city in the country and the second biggest in the Midwest after Chicago, according to new Census estimates released Thursday.

Sometimes a team can accomplish far more than a group of lone individuals. For example, cyclists in the Tour de France take turns riding at the front of their group, decreasing the wind for those behind them. Wolves hunt in packs to take down animals 20 times their size. And for those of us who were children of the '90s, we all remember Ducks Fly Together.

Silicon Valley, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Austin and more have well-established and booming startup scenes complete with big companies and investors to impress. But all of those cities have another thing in common. They are pricey and the competition is steep.
